If you love gaming from your smartphone, you may already know how much a solid gaming phone would enhance your experience. Mobile games, and especially online titles, are now firmly engrained in the lives of most mobile users, so it makes sense to invest in a smartphone (or even a tablet!) that can keep up with your favourite pastime! Here’s how to choose the perfect device for gaming without breaking the bank.

#1: Look for a High-Performing Processor

The first things to focus on when making your choice are CPU and GPU. The latest, and arguably the best CPU option right now would be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip. Eight-core architecture remains ideal for gaming purposes, with the Snapdragon’s four major cores offering a maximum frequency of 2.8GHz and a 30% performance increase. Four small cores, on the other hand, offer a 1.8GHz frequency and a 15% performance increase.

In terms of GPU, the Snapdragon 845 has been upgraded to the Adreno 630, when compared with past generations showed a 30% performance improvement and a matching energy consumption ration. Video processing efficiency has also been improved by up to 2.5x in the current generation of processors.

#2: Pick Devices with Large, Clear Displays

Gaming phones need to have screens of at least 5.5 inches, but an 18:9 full screen is ideal as it can be easily manipulated.

Aside from making the gameplay itself easier and allowing the software to more effortlessly calibrate to your display, mobile gamers usually love large-screened devices purely for the sleek, high definition visuals they boast. Some devices even have configurable dedicated game-pads that make for an experience comparable to playing on a console!

#3: Remember RAM and ROM Memory

Read-only Memory (ROM) and Random-Access Memory (RAM) are both essential for the data transfer speed of your phone. Today, large internal storage capacity is a huge advantage if you are wanting to play graphically-rich games, many of which come with files of 1GB or larger.

Be sure to purchase a device with enough on-board memory – 64GB should do the trick – and RAM of 2GB with high megahertz if possible. Pair these features together and you will enjoy high speed gaming and the fastest possible data processing and configuration for the activities you enjoy the most!

#4: Focus on Good Temperature Control

The CPU is always the most prone component in computers to overheating, but thankfully, heat sinks and fan cooling tend to resolve this issue with ease.

On the other hand, mobile phones simply don’t have the space for fans, so if yours is going to be processing large amounts of game data, be sure to choose an option like the Asus ROG or Xiaomi Black Shark, both of which have liquid cooling systems.

#5: Prioritize Battery Life

There’s nothing worse than being in the middle of an action-packed session of online Blackjack only to have your phone die on you.

Your ideal device will have a high-performance chipset and RAM, which will use plenty of power, so you need a heavy-duty battery to match this output. A smartphone with a 4,000 mAh battery should keep you connected and having fun for hours on end!
