As summer slowly approaches the times has never been so perfect for a good old spring clean, while it is always good to start indoors and slowly work your way out you shouldn’t neglect your car. A spring clean can be used as an excuse to wash away the dirt and grime on the exterior of the car that might have been stuck on since the winter seasons. For the interior, it is a chance for you to give it a deep clean as well as eliminate mud and loose foods under the carpets and in the crevice’s. This aim of this post is to educate drivers on the proper ways to give your car a deep spring clean.

Winter Tyres

The first thing to do is to take off your winter tyres, once winter is over there is no need for the winter tyres anymore, so you can take them off to reserve for next winter. Before you put them away you should check for punctures and any other damage to the tyres, if you do find any issues you can call out a mobile tyre fitting crew to patch it up before you put it away. Leaving your winter tyres on through the summer opens it up to damage that can affect your car in the coming winter months.

Carpets and Upholstery

When cleaning the carpets in your car you should first use a vacuum cleaner if possible or a brush to remove any dirt, mud, food and any other debris that might be trapped. You should then use a damp towel to wipe down the seats, not forgetting the crevices. Make sure you do the same for the carpets, you can take it out and hit it against a solid surface so that any dry mud and dirt can fall off before you then vacuum it not forgetting to vacuum underneath the carpets.

While driving in the summer time your windows should be shining to soak in all the sun. The windows need to be cleaned to get off all the winter dirt and mud that might have been stuck on. Use a damp sponge and some washing liquid to clean at first and then use a clean towel to wipe down after. Remember to do the windows and the windows from the inside of the car.

If you have owned your car for a long time there is no doubt that your trunk would be a mess, use this opportunity to clean it out. Throw away items that have been there for a while, throw away plastic bags and the children’s art project that has been in there for months. While you are cleaning the trunk, you can also use that chance to check on your spare tyre, make sure that it is up to standard, check the tyre pressure and the tread to make sure it’s still within its recommended tread count.

Finally, if possible you should wax the exterior of your car, if you have had your car for a long time if gives it a shine, and if your car is new then it preserves the exterior appearance. Make sure that you choose a spray of liquid that matches the original design.
