It is virtually impossible nowadays to visit some of the world’s largest cities without being surrounded by skyscrapers. From China to London, several countries are constantly competing to earn the acclaimed title of the world’s tallest building. Currently, there are 56 buildings featured on the world’s tallest list, with 27 (48%) of them located in China. To stand a chance at earning a place on the highly esteemed list, a building must reach a minimum of 350 meters.

Having the title of the world’s tallest building can generate a multitude of benefits for a country, such as creating further revenue, increasing tourism and evolving an overall sense of achievement, meaning it’s no surprise that the majority of the world’s wealthiest countries are investing millions each year on constructing what they believe will become the next tallest. As of 2018, the tallest building in the world is the Burj Khalifa, located in Dubai, who have managed to hold onto the title since 2010.
